A Product of my Boredom

Escape was the first text-based 'adventure' I ever made, and for the longest time "text-based adventure" was all I used to refer to it. It wasn't until a couple years after first making Escape that I was introduced to the program Twine as a way to make games and decided to revisit my text-based adventure, originally the whole thing I had coded as a way to practice python though despite this I had little trouble adapting it to work in Twine; I did make some overhauls to the story and polished it a bit more in some places but its core remains the same as the original python project.

When I started this I was inspired by the Henry Stickmin games and Markiplier's various choose your own adventure style videos. At the time I was also watching through the Higurashi series; pulling from all these different things I wanted to create a non-linear story in which each 'failure', 'loss', ect. was incorporated as an expected part of the story.

The end product is very self indulgent, filled with references to all manner of media I was consuming or simply aware of at the time, I hope it brings players as much enjoyment as it brought me to make.
